Ryton Park Country House Hotel Facilities
Location
Ryton stands above the south bank of the river Tyne. With its green,
18th century houses and cottages, and the broach spire of the Holy
Cross Church rising from the trees, Ryton Village is considered
by many to be the most attractive of all the Tyneside villages.
The 13th century church is a superb example of early English architecture.
Outstanding is the Jacobean woodwork of the chancel screen and oak
stalls, both in the Cosin style and dating from the 17th century.
Along the riverside is a stretch known as the Ryton Willows, part
of the Tyne Riverside Country Park, which is based on a 2 mile long
riverside footpath.
For those on holiday in the area, Ryton is ideal as a base from
which to tour. The MetroCentre, Europe's largest shopping centre,
is on the doorstep; the Northumberland, Durham and Scottish Borders
are all within comfortable driving distances. There are numerous
English Heritage and National Trust properties to explore and of
course the world famous Beamish museum. Golf, river and sea fishing,
bird life, sailing and water sports are widely available throughout
the Durham and Northumberland areas.
Only minutes to Newcastle by road, Ryton is also an ideal base for
the business person. It is within easy reach of the main industrial
and service locations of Newcastle, Gateshead, Northumberland, Tyne
& Wear and the Durham areas.
